Multi Modality Imaging & The Cardiovascular Imaging Coalition (CVIC) Updates

The Cardiovascular Imaging Coalition (CVIC), formed through collaboration between NBE and Inteleos, is developing an integrated Maintenance of Certification (MOC) pathway to help clinicians stay current across imaging modalities while maintaining rigor and clinical relevance.

Designed for clinicians holding certifications in more than one cardiovascular imaging area including Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance (MR), Nuclear, and Echocardiography (Echo). The program is in active development. Current initial certification and MOC pathways with NBE and Inteleos remain unchanged.

NBE Exam Fee Update – Effective June 2025

At the National Board of Echocardiography (NBE), our mission is to advance excellence in echocardiography by supporting high standards in assessment and certification. As the field evolves with advances in technology and patient care, it’s critical that our examinations reflect the most current knowledge and practices.

Physicians who pass an NBE exam earn the Testamur designation in that specialty and may apply for Diplomate status at no additional cost. There is no extra certification fee.

To continue developing and delivering high-quality, relevant exams and to ensure long-term sustainability amid rising operational costs and inflation, the NBE Board of Directors has approved a fee adjustment beginning with the 2026 examination administrations:

Exam 2026 Administration Date 2026 Exam Fee 2026 Registration Open Date
CCEeXAM® January 27, 2026 $1295 June 10, 2025
ASCeXAM® July 14, 2026 $1295 July 8, 2025
Advanced PTEeXAM® July 21, 2026 $1295 July 8, 2025
Basic PTEeXAM® July 21, 2026 $1095 July 8, 2025

As a volunteer-led 501(c)(6) non-profit organization, NBE is committed to responsible financial stewardship. This is the first fee adjustment in over a decade, and it supports our ongoing efforts to maintain the integrity, rigor, and relevance of our certification programs. We value your continued partnership and dedication to excellence in patient care.
