Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: I’ve taken an NBE examination, am I eligible to receive ABIM MOC points?

A: ABIM Board Certified physicians who have passed one of these examinations since January 1, 2014 may earn MOC points.

Q: How do I obtain these MOC points?

You must provide NBE with your six-digit ABIM number (e.g., 123456) and we will submit the information to ABIM. To provide your ABIM number, go to echoboards.org and log into to your online profile. Once you are logged in select the “Update Account Information” option. There will be a field titled, “American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) #:” Enter your six-digit ABIM number number here.

You can email your ABIM number to info@echoboards.org. Emails should include your name, date of birth and your ABIM number.

ABIM numbers will NOT be accepted over the phone.

Q: Where do I find my ABIM ID?

A: If you do not know your ABIM ID, you can look it up on ABIM’s website by following this link: https://www.abim.org/online/findcand.aspx

Q: Do I need to notify ABIM that I passed my NBE examination?

A: NO. NBE will provide ABIM with a list of individuals on the first Tuesday of each month, identified by their ABIM ID, who passed ASCeXAM® or ReASCE® examinations (once the scores have been released). ABIM will provide the points within fourteen business days of receipt of the list.

Q: I passed my ASCeXAM® or ReASCE® examination before July 1, 2014. Am I eligible for MOC credit?

A: Unfortunately NBE examinations passed prior to July 1, 2014 are not eligible for these points.
