Recertification Examination of Special Competence in Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography (RePTE)

EXAM APPLICATION

For your convenience the examination application is now available to register for the 2010 RePTE®.

To download the application, click on the 2010 RePTE application and submit the following documentation:

  • Complete the 2 page application
  • A copy of your current license to practice medicine with an expiration date

    NOTE: Non-North American Trained Physicians applying for the Advanced PTEeXAM must supply the following:

    If your medical license does not have an expiration date, you are required to supply ONE of the following:

    • An original letter from the Medical Council stating your license is permanent
    • An original certificate of good standing; dated no more than 12 months prior to date application received
  • All documentation must be supplied in English. If original documentation is not in English, a certified translation must be attached to each document.
  • Application Fee
    (The NBE® accepts check, money order, VISA or MasterCard)
  • Sign bottom right hand side of application

Mail, UPS, or FedEx the appropriate completed application, copy of medical license or letter from program director, and payment to:

Faxed or scanned applications will not be accepted.

The NBE® recommends that if mail is used you obtain proof of delivery.

The certification application and supporting documents for certification are not required to register for the examination and can be submitted at any time.

Applicants for the 2010 RePTE® must hold a current license to practice medicine at the time of application or equivalent documentation of permission to practice medicine in the country of principal resident.

AND

Have passed the PTEeXAM in 1998, 1999, 2000, or 2001.
Non-North American Trained Physicians applying for the Advanced PTEeXAM must supply the following:

NOTE: Only a copy of an applicant's current license to practice medicine, completed application, and the application fee is required to sit for the RePTE examination.

RECERTIFICATION

Physician’s who previously passed the RePTE® examination, use the conversion application in the 2010 RePTE Application brochure to apply for initial board recertification.

For Physicians participating in the 2010 RePTE® examination, please refer to the 2010 RePTE brochure to review the certification requirements and application instructions.

The recertification application and supporting documents are not required to register for the examination and can be submitted at any time.

SUNSET CLAUSE:

Due to the rapidly changing technology and advances in echocardiography, The National Board of Echocardiography recommends physicians take this examination at least once every ten (10) years.
